Are Seraphina fabric books safe for babies to mouth?

How do I reduce screen time for my baby or toddler?

The most effective approach is to replace screens with something equally engaging, rather than simply restricting them. For toddlers aged 1–3, activity toys with buttons, zips, and sorting elements are highly motivating. For children 3–5 years, open-ended materials like blocks, art supplies, and imaginative play props work best. How can I get my toddler to play independently?

Independent play is a skill that develops gradually. Three things make the biggest difference: (1) Set up the play environment before you step away — lay out one or two open-ended toys in an inviting way rather than handing a toy and leaving. (2) Start with very short periods (5 minutes) and build up gradually. (3) Don't intervene at the first sign of fussing — wait 30–60 seconds, as most toddlers will return to the activity on their own. Open-ended toys that require the child to do something — rather than performing for them — hold attention significantly longer than battery-powered or electronic toys.
